B vitamins should be added to calf diets
B vitamins play a role in assisting digestion in the metabolism of animal bodies, and include more than a dozen types. The feed mixer found that a large amount of B vitamins such as biotin, folic acid, and niacin are needed during the growth and development of calves. The specific effects of these B vitamins on calves are as follows.
1. Biotin Adding 20mg of biotin per kilogram of calf diets can effectively improve the health of hooves and prevent lameness.
2. Experts in folic acid breeding suggest that intramuscular injection of 40 mg of folic acid per week for calves from 10 days of age to 16 weeks of age can increase their daily weight gain by 8% within 5 weeks after weaning; if from 45 days of pregnancy to delivery After 6 weeks, weekly injection of 160 mg folic acid can improve milk production and milk protein content in first-born or multiparous cows in the middle and late lactation period.
3. Niacin At present, there are many studies on niacin in the cattle and sheep breeding market. Niacin can effectively promote the synthesis of rumen microbial protein and reduce the production of methane, but the results of its impact on the production performance of ruminants are different. Generally, it is used as a substitute for feeding. Milking calves need a reasonable supplement of niacin, and growing heifers after weaning do not need supplemental feeding.
